Our Creative Writing class spent plenty of time learning the traditional elements of poetry (rhyme scheme, meter, etc.), and then we threw all the rules out the window. In this assignment, students were encouraged to use space and typography to create a poem designed to be seen on paper or a computer screen as opposed to strictly read aloud as in ancient times. Below is a representation from junior Maaham Asif:
